Writing in your language
Interface in English, Ukrainian or Czech — and your book in whichever you like.
What it is
CharmWriter separates two things that most tools conflate: the language of the interface and the language of the book. The interface is available in English, Ukrainian and Czech. The book language is set per book, and everything that touches the manuscript follows it — drafted prose, the Story Bible, editorial questions, summaries, contradiction reports, and the voice Charm speaks in. So you can run the app in English while writing a Ukrainian memoir, and every word of the book, including its reference material, will be Ukrainian.

How to use it

Set your interface language
Settings → General → Language changes menus, buttons and help text. It does not touch your manuscript.

Set the book language
Open the book settings from the workspace title and set Book language under The Book. Everything the AI writes into the manuscript follows this.

Dictate in that language
Speech recognition follows the book language, so dictating Ukrainian into a Ukrainian book transcribes as Ukrainian.

Pick a voice
Settings → Voice offers the voices available for your language. Ukrainian and Czech use a different voice family from English, chosen for how natural they sound.

Proofread with the language check
In the Smart Editor, the languages button runs a proofread-only pass: russisms and surzhyk in Ukrainian, anglicisms and missing diacritics in Czech. It fixes language, not style.
What it gives you
Your book is not a translation
Prose is drafted in your language from the start, rather than written in English and converted. That is the difference between a book in Ukrainian and a book translated into it.
The reference material matches
A Ukrainian manuscript gets a Ukrainian Story Bible, Ukrainian questions and Ukrainian summaries. Nothing forces you back into English mid-thought.
Purity is checked, not assumed
The language pass targets exactly the errors that matter in each language — the borrowed constructions that slip in unnoticed, and diacritics dropped by a keyboard.
Two languages, two settings
Working in an English-language interface out of habit does not commit you to writing in English.
Good to know
- The interface is available in three languages. More are planned but not yet available.
- You can write your manuscript in other languages, but the AI's language-purity checks and voice options are tuned specifically for English, Ukrainian and Czech.
- The readability score is calibrated for English and reads high for Ukrainian and Czech. Use it to compare your own chapters, not as an absolute grade.
- Structural labels in exports ("Contents", "Acknowledgments") are still English.
- Charm Chat, the research assistant, deliberately follows the interface language rather than the book language.
Questions
Can I use the app in English but write in Ukrainian?
Yes, and that is a supported, common setup. Interface language and book language are separate settings.
Will the AI write in my language or translate into it?
It writes in your language directly. Nothing is drafted in English first.
Is my Story Bible in my book language too?
Yes. Character sheets, plot arcs, world entries, timeline events, questions and summaries are all written in the book language.
Can I mix languages in one manuscript?
Yes — dialogue in another language, for example. The language check may flag it, and you can reject those suggestions.
