A worked example
You sit down and talk a chapter through, or type it if you would rather. Your ghostwriter writes it up as prose, about 2,000 words of it. Here is everything that goes into that:
- Turns whatever you gave it, spoken or typed, into prose in your voice, and rewrites the parts you want changed.
- Asks you four or five editorial questions about the story as it goes.
- Updates your Story Bible with the characters, places and threads that came up.
- Writes the chapter summary and checks it against everything you have written before.
All of it together: about 2 credits.
That is the whole cost. There is no subscription and nothing else to pay.
What does a credit actually buy?
About a thousand finished words of manuscript. That number is measured across real books written here, and it is the all-in figure: it covers the questions Charm asks you, the Story Bible it keeps current, the summaries and the consistency checks, not only the prose. A typical chapter runs about two thousand words, so it costs around two credits.

Questions about pricing
Do credits expire?
No. Buy now, write next year. Your credits stay in your account until you use them.
What if I run out mid-chapter?
Your draft stays saved. Top up when you want, and pick up where you left off.
Can I get a refund?
Unspent credits are refundable within 30 days of purchase. Used credits are not refundable, since we've already paid the AI for that work. Email support@charmwriter.com with your order reference and we'll process it.
Why credits instead of a subscription?
Writing is bursty. Some weeks you draft three chapters, some months you just think. A subscription would charge through the quiet months. Credits pay for exactly what you use.
Why do you count in words and not chapters?
Because we tried counting in chapters and it was not honest. Chapters in real books here range from a few hundred words to several thousand, so any chapter figure is wrong for most people. Finished words hold still, so that is what we quote.
