What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They are widely used to make websites work, improve user experience, and provide information to site owners.
Cookies We Use
CharmWriter uses only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.

Storage in Your Browser
Alongside cookies, CharmWriter keeps a small amount of information in your browser'slocalStorage. This never reaches our servers and never leaves your device — it exists so the app remembers small things between visits:
- Which guided tours and tips you have already seen, so they are not shown again
- Your chosen theme and the voice you picked for reading aloud
- A local copy of chapter text you are editing, so a closed tab does not lose your work
- That you dismissed the cookie notice at the bottom of this site
You can clear all of it at any time through your browser's "clear site data" option. Doing so will show you the tours and tips again, and will discard any local draft that had not yet been saved to your account.
What We Don't Use
- No tracking cookies. We use Umami Analytics, which is fully cookie-free
- No advertising cookies. We do not serve ads or share data with ad networks
- No social media cookies. We do not embed social media tracking pixels
- No third-party analytics cookies. No Google Analytics or similar
Do I Need to Consent?
Under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent, they are essential for the Service to function (login, payment security), as does storage that only remembers a preference you yourself set, such as your language or theme. Everything listed on this page falls into one of those two groups, so no opt-in is required. We do not set anything for tracking, profiling or advertising.
Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. However, disabling essential cookies may prevent you from logging in or using the Service. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and implement a consent mechanism before setting those cookies.
